| Temporary Tattoos : About |
|
 |
|
|
|
|
Temporary tattoos are popular with models and children as they involve no permanent alteration of the skin but produce a similar appearance that can last anywhere from a few days to several weeks. The most common style is a type of body sticker similar to a decal, which is typically transferred to the skin using water. Although the design is waterproof, it can be removed easily with oil-based creams.
How to Apply the Perfect Temporary Tattoo
- Pick which tattoo you would like to use.
- Peel off the clear plastic surface that protects the tattoo.
- Choose a spot on your body to position the tattoo.
- Place the image face-down on your body. Note how you want it to appear to other people.
- Firmly press a damp (but not soaking) cloth or sponge over the back of the tattoo.
- Hold it in that position for around 60 seconds. This will get you the most complete image. Try to move as little as possible.
- Take off the cloth/sponge.
- Gently grab a corner of the paper with two fingers and slowly peel off a little bit. If the image looks weird or isn't sticking to your skin, put the cloth/sponge back on and wait for another 30 seconds. If it does look good, then continue to slowly peel.
- Wait another minute for it to dry, remembering to not move the area you tattooed, so it will stay smooth.
Ways to Remove Temporary Tattoos
- Apply some cooking oil, preferably olive oil to your tattoo. Olive oil is best on sensitive skin because it does not burn like rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover does.
- Grab a paper towel or a cloth and rub the tattoo vigorously until it is removed. Continue to add oil as needed.
- Take hand soap, dish soap, body wash, etc. and scrub, not too hard, but quickly until you have gotten as much as possible.
- Apply a reasonable amount of rubbing alcohol to a cloth or cotton ball. Rub.
- Take some clear Scotch tape, apply over the tatto, and rip off. Do not worry, Scotch tape is not sticky enough to hurt - only sticky enough to remove temporary tattoos!
- You can also put a little baby oil on it before you go to bed, and when you wake up, it will most likely be gone.
